How to drive to Detroit: Huron to Washtenaw to Ypsi, left on Ballard, stop at Da Lat for coffee. West on Cross past Cross Street Station, left again to Abe's for a coney dog. Head east (left) on Michigan Avenue (US-12). Go past the Bomber and Cluck's, over the bridge, stop at Value Village to shop for 8-tracks. Past the Orange Lantern (DON'T stop here), merge with Ecorse, watch planes landing at Willow Run. Go by Lucille's just after Geddes merges in, stop in for C&W music if it's a weekend night, don't let "Tex" sell you any tires for your pickup truck. Watch some calf-roping on the big screen TV. Continue past where the Wayne Drive-In Theater used to be before they built the truck plant, stop at Alex's Restaurant for pie. Slow down for the speed trap in downtown Wayne. Go straight through Inkster without stopping at the Mustang Lounge. Stop at Mister Donut in Dearborn, then go left on Greenfield to Sully's and pick up the band schedule. Back to Michigan Avenue, turn left at the Chablis bar ("female entertainment") if you're going to the Ford-Wyoming Drive-In Theater. Cross into Detroit. Go past the Senat Coney Island, stop in for a dog and a show if they're playing the pipe organ in the Senat Theater next door. Go under the train tracks by the abandoned Cadillac World Headquarters. Go past Tiger Stadium and the abandoned Michigan Central train station, turn right on Vernor if you're going to Mexican Town or Canada. Turn right on Woodward at the abandoned Cadillac Hotel, stop when you find a big steel fist in your face. Welcome to Detroit.
